The new "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is not a reboot and will tell the story after Caesar's death

Last August, CEO Bob Iger said that Fox's flagship IP "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" would be "continued". Director Wes Ball, who recently took over the project, revealed that the new version is not a reboot, but continues to tell the story after Caesar's death.

"War for the Planet of the Apes", released in 2017, is the third installment of Fox's reboot of the "Planet of the Apes" series. At the end of the story, there is a huge avalanche, and Caesar successfully escapes with the apes. They find a peaceful life by the lake, and a mysterious little girl is with the apes. Caesar passes away with Maurice's comfort.

How will the next story unfold? Reeves, the director of "Planet of the Apes 3", made it clear that after the trilogy ends, the audience will definitely not be waiting for a remake of the "Planet of the Apes" trilogy, because it would be meaningless. Producer Peter Sherney said that the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" trilogy is just the end of Caesar's journey, but there are still many stories worth telling in the entire movie universe. New director Wes Boll said that the new version will focus on Caesar's "legacy."
