The Anaconda movie will be rebooted in the style of The Meg

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 1997 classic "Anaconda" is getting a reboot.

Sony Columbia Pictures will develop this cult film with a new and modern perspective, and has recruited Evan Daugherty, the screenwriter of Tomb Raider and Snow White and the Huntsman, to write the script. There is currently no producer for the rebooted film.

Sources say the new film is not a remake or a sequel, but a remake, and although the details are kept strictly confidential, the studio hopes to make it in the style of "The Meg."

1997 "Anaconda" movie synopsis:

In the tropical rainforest of the Amazon River Basin, there is a mysterious tribe - the Shuar. According to legend, the Shuar worship the man-eating python and regard it as a god. This snake is ferocious and powerful, and it tracks its prey by the heat emitted by living things. There is no chance of escape when you encounter it. Anthropologist Steven Kay (Eric Stults) is very interested in the legendary Shuar tribe, because he found that this tribe can not only be used for scientific research, but also has great news value. Steven and documentary director Terry Lowry (Jennifer Lopez) organized a crew to shoot a documentary about this mysterious tribe. The crew of seven people set out from the source of the Amazon River in Brazil, carrying a full set of photographic equipment, and took a boat into this mysterious tropical rainforest.

Along the way, they stumbled upon a stranded boat and immediately rescued the boat owner, Paul Shawan (Joan Werner). Paul told everyone that he had lived in the rainforest for many years, mainly catching snakes, and claimed to have seen the Shuar people with his own eyes. Everyone was skeptical, but it was obvious that Paul was very familiar with this place, so the crew still followed his guide. Since Paul got on the boat, strange things have been happening... Dr. Steven was poisoned by a wasp and was unconscious. He had to be sent to the hospital for emergency treatment immediately. In order to save people, everyone had to follow Paul's advice and change the course to find a hospital. But they never expected that all this was planned by Paul. His purpose was to use the crew to capture the python. He led the crew's boat to the snake's lair and used the crew members as bait. In order to survive, the unarmed crew fought with Paul. In addition, the man-eating python that came and went without a trace was also staring at them...
