C97 Fan Anime Exhibition closed 4 days ago with 750,000 participants, setting a new record

The twice-a-year ACG fan convention still seems unable to satisfy the fans' restless enthusiasm. The latest C97 (Winter) convention was held in Tokyo on December 28 and officially closed today, December 31. With the excellent weather and the proximity of the New Year's Day, the number of attendees reached a new high of over 750,000.

Comiket is the largest doujinshi exhibition in Japan. Its full name is Comic Market. It is the largest doujinshi sale in Japan and even the world, organized by the Comic Market Preparation Committee. It is affectionately called the "pornographic book sale" by other Japanese netizens.

The exhibition mainly sells and displays self-funded publications of animation, comics, games, novels, and peripherals. The participants are composed of three groups: planning participants, readers, and ordinary participants, which plays a vital role in promoting doujinshi activities.

According to official statistics, the average number of participants in the four-day C97 anime convention was between 180,000 and 190,000 per day, totaling over 750,000, surpassing the 730,000 participants in the previous C96 (Summer) convention and setting a new record. It seems that the enthusiasm of ACG fans is hard to resist.
