"Star Wars 9" director responds to film controversy: fans are right no matter what they say

Recently, "Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker" has aroused heated discussions among movie fans after its global release. A group of fans are not satisfied with "Star Wars 9". Director J.J. Abrams responded to these fans who criticized the movie in an interview with foreign media.

He said that whatever fans think of the movie is correct: "We knew from the beginning that any subtle decision in making this movie might make some fans unhappy, but it might make other fans happy at the same time. In any case, these fans love this series of movies more than anything else."

In addition, the film's portrayal of Luke Skywalker has become a point of controversy, with fans speculating that J.J. Abrams and Star Wars 8 director Rian Johnson had creative differences.

JJ said he admired Rian Johnson very much and explained the plot: "Rian did a lot of excellent things in Star Wars 8, one of which was to give Luke a character arc. He grew and developed, so at the end of Star Wars 8, he accepted the things he rejected at the beginning of the film."

It is understood that "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" earned US$373 million in box office worldwide last week, of which the box office in mainland China was only RMB 88.7 million.
