The pirated version of the online drama "Celebrating More Than Years" was sold for only 3 yuan, and the copyright owner has reported it to the police

When asked what TV series was the most popular at the end of 2019, I'm afraid many people would mention "Joy of Life". This TV series has sparked widespread discussion since it was released. Although the series has only been aired for more than 30 episodes, there are sellers on the Internet who sell the full high-definition series for 3 yuan. According to reports, there are nearly 40,000 infringing links to "Joy of Life".

On the 20th, the copyright holder of the drama issued a statement saying that a report had been filed and the police had filed a case. In response, lawyers said that infringing copyright for profit may be subject to criminal liability, and if the illegal income is huge or there are other particularly serious circumstances, the offender may be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of more than 3 years but less than 7 years.

Second-hand platform can buy pirated complete works for 3 yuan

"Celebrating Life" is a costume TV series with 46 episodes in the first season, which premiered on Tencent and iQiyi on November 26. The show was a hit after it was aired, and the two video platforms also caused controversy due to paid advance on-demand viewing. Beijing Youth Daily reporters saw that the show has been updated to episode 33 on the two platforms.

The show has not yet finished airing, but pirated copies have already been released. On November 19, the high-definition full set of Joy of Life suddenly appeared online, triggering a "carnival" scene where websites and forums scrambled to save the resources. Beijing Youth Daily reporters noticed that although many pirated resources have been removed from the shelves, many pirated resources can still be found online, and some people are making profits from them.

On a certain second-hand trading platform, there is no information when searching with the keyword "Joy of Life", but searching with some related words still yields many sellers selling the complete collection, with prices ranging from 1 to 5 yuan.

The reporter contacted one of the sellers who was selling the video for 3.99 yuan. The seller said that the video could be sent via a network disk after the payment was made. After the reporter tried to buy the video, the seller sent the full video of the drama to the reporter via a network disk. After the reporter clicked on it, he found that the video was complete and clear, and he could watch 46 episodes. In addition, the seller also said, "It will be deleted very quickly, so save it quickly."

The reporter contacted another seller who sold pirated resources for 3 yuan through the platform. The other party said that if you follow a WeChat public account and send the title of the movie, you can watch the whole series. The public account has also pushed articles about the complete series (leaked version) of "Celebrating Yu Nian" many times. The seller said that the website may be blocked at any time in the next few days, so you should hurry up and buy the drama.

Nearly 40,000 infringing links have been reported to the police

On the 20th, Wu Guanyong, director of the 12426 Copyright Monitoring Center, said in an interview with the media that the piracy of Joy of Life has been quite serious, and nearly 40,000 infringing links have been monitored on the entire network. Wu Guanyong said, "In theory, if the complete series is released, it must have been exposed to this medium. The film company, the distributor, and the platform may have leaked it at some point."

On December 20, the drama's distribution company and two video websites jointly issued a statement saying that in order to protect the drama's copyright from infringement, they have been conducting strict monitoring and rights protection work in conjunction with the legitimate broadcasting platforms since the day the drama was broadcast online.

The statement said that on December 9, it was discovered that some people on the Internet had illegally sold and distributed pirated content of the TV series "Celebrating Yu Nian" (Season 1) through the Internet without the permission of the rights holder, and engaged in large-scale infringement and piracy.

The rights holder has reported the case to the public security organ, demanding that the relevant responsible persons be held criminally liable. The public security organ has filed a case for investigation. The copyright law enforcement team has also taken measures to protect rights and investigate the infringement, while reserving the right to demand compensation for losses.

On the evening of December 19, 2019, the copyright owner discovered that someone on the Internet had once again illegally sold and disseminated pirated content of the entire TV series "Celebrating More Than Years" (Season 1) through the Internet without the permission of the right holder, and intensified the infringement and piracy. Because the infringer's behavior seriously disrupted the normal broadcast order of the TV series "Celebrating More Than Years" (Season 1), infringed the legitimate rights and interests of the right holder, and was also suspected of constituting a criminal offense, copyright infringement, and commercial secret infringement, the right holder once again reported the case to the public security organs and the people's court and filed a case.

In the statement, the copyright holder also called on the audience and netizens to watch the TV series "Celebrating More Than Years" (Season 1) through legally authorized platforms, jointly resist illegal acts such as infringement and piracy, and maintain the normal broadcast order. Do not read, believe, or forward information that illegally disseminates infringing content. If you find any illegal behavior, you can report it to the right holder through the official Weibo of the TV series "Celebrating More Than Years". Support the genuine version and "Celebrating More Than Years" with your own practical actions.

Piracy for profit is criminally punishable

Regarding the piracy of "Celebrating More Than Years", the Beijing Youth Daily reporter also consulted a lawyer. Lawyer Zhou Hao of Beijing Weiheng Law Firm told reporters that those who sell pirated resources need to bear infringement liability and criminal liability. On the one hand, the Copyright Law clearly stipulates the right of distribution and the right of information network dissemination. On the other hand, the Criminal Law clearly stipulates that if copyright is infringed for the purpose of profit, the amount of illegal gains is large or there are other serious circumstances, it shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than 3 years or criminal detention, and a fine or a single fine; if the amount of illegal gains is huge or there are other particularly serious circumstances, it shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than 3 years but not more than 7 years, and a fine. For copyright holders, after discovering piracy, they should actively assert their rights through legal channels, comprehensively collect evidence, report, report, and accuse in order to safeguard their own legitimate rights and interests.

Because the advanced payment on-demand service has caused controversy, some netizens believe that it is the high cost of watching dramas that has led to piracy. Zhou Hao believes that charging is the remuneration of the copyright author, and piracy is illegal anyway. The general public should support genuine products and watch TV dramas through regular and legal channels.
