Netflix's original Chinese drama series "The Other Shore Bride" preview released

Netflix's new Chinese original series "The Other Shore's Bride" released a trailer today. This is a suspense drama co-produced by Taiwan, China and Malaysia. It is adapted from the novel "Ghost Bride" by Chinese-American writer Zhu Yangxi. It is starred by Wu Kangren, Huang Peijia, Lin Ludi and Tian Shiguang.

"The Bride of the Other Shore" is set in Malacca in the 1890s. Taking advantage of the city's status as an important hub for east-west shipping, it also retains a large amount of Chinese culture and local traditions. It subverts the Chinese culture's established impression of the custom of "ghost marriage", turning this marriage across the Yin and Yang worlds into an adventurous fantasy love story.

In addition to Wu Kangren and Huang Peijia, Canadian Chinese actor Ludi Lin, who has starred in "Aquaman" and "Black Mirror", has also joined the cast. With his muscular physique, he can be called the new generation of Chinese muscular male god in Hollywood, but this time in "The Other Shore Bride", he deliberately hid his good figure and transformed himself into Lin Tianbai, a white-robed doctor who returned from studying abroad.

The Story of The Other Shore

In order to save her dying father, Li Lan, a young girl from a poor family, is forced to agree to a "ghost marriage" with Lin Tianqing, a young master of the Lin family who recently passed away. She is eager to escape her fate and is involved in a mysterious incident, which changes her life drastically. Huang Peijia transforms into a mysterious bride, with a golden veil on her face and the word "囍" faintly reflected behind her. But in fact, the reason why she dares to enter the underworld for a ghost marriage in the play is to save her father who is dying in bed. Fortunately, on her way to the underworld, she is accompanied by Wu Kangren, a guard in heaven. The two of them, who were bickering and quarreling all the time, gradually developed a deep friendship through hardships, making this love story that interweaves the three realms of humans, ghosts and gods even more interesting.

"The Other Shore's Bride" will be launched on January 23, exclusively on Netflix.
