The success of "Joker" has led to the producers of "Venom 2" considering an R-rated film

"Venom" producer Matt Tolmach said he might consider making "Venom 2" an R-rated movie because "Joker" proved that R-rated is also suitable for superhero movies.

In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Tolmach said they might reconsider the choice of Venom 2. He discussed the presentation of comic book characters on the big screen, pointing out R-rated superhero movies such as Deadpool, Wolverine 3, and the Joker, and that the Joker was the first movie to gross over $1 billion worldwide.

“I think you’ve always thought about it, and now it’s working. But then again, our movies are working. We’re a standalone brand, and I don’t think anyone is surprised by our success. So it’s not like all of a sudden everyone is thinking about how to choose a rating strategy.”

"I think Joker proved that R-rated movies can be successful. For a long time, R-rated movies were a second-tier market, and Deadpool opened up the field, and then Wolverine 3, but for a long time, R-rated movies were considered taboo. So it's a great thing that R-rated movies can be accepted by more audiences. It means that there are more opportunities for all kinds of different storytelling methods."

Although Venom 2 is still uncertain about the classification strategy, the plan for this film is progressing steadily. Kelly Marcel has made corresponding revisions to the script, and Tom Hardy has a clear idea of taking the character to a new dimension.
