Disney bans old 20th Century Fox movies from U.S. theaters

According to foreign media reports, Disney has decided to ban theaters from showing old 20th Century Fox movies in the United States. For example, some theaters that tried to show "Fight Club" and "Alien" at their anniversary special screenings were banned by Disney. One theater was even told not to show "The Devil Wears Prada", "The Princess Bride" and "Moulin Rouge".

Disney has not yet made an official statement on the policy itself or how it will be enforced. Some media speculated that it might be hoping to focus people's attention on the company's streaming platform.

20th Century Fox is one of the most important film and television program distribution and production companies in the United States. In July 2018, Disney officially announced that its $71.3 billion acquisition plan with 21st Century Fox had obtained final regulatory approval. The exact completion time of the transaction to acquire part of Fox's assets is March 20, 2019, Eastern Time. Disney will complete the acquisition of Fox for $71.3 billion.
