What year is it? Spider-Man 2 ranked second in North American box office on its first day of re-release

Last month, Sony Pictures announced that all eight Spider-Man movies would return to the big screen starting in April, and Spider-Man 2, which was re-released on April 22, earned impressive box office revenue on its first day of release.

According to Sony's official statement, "Spider-Man 2" earned $805,000 in box office revenue from 467 locations in North America on April 22, with an average box office of about $1,700 per theater. According to data collected by The Numbers, "Spider-Man 2" was the second highest-grossing movie of the day. The first place was A24's "Civil War" with a box office of $825,000, and "Blood Ballet" ranked third with a box office of $742,000.

Spider-Man 2's box office figures also surpassed those of the Spider-Man re-release, which grossed $681,000 on its first day.

The Spider-Man franchise is being re-released to commemorate Columbia Pictures' 100th anniversary. So far, they've made a total of $1.5 million, according to Sony. There are six more Spider-Man movies to come, ending with the re-release of Spider-Man: No Homecoming on June 3.
