Alan Ritchson, star of the American TV series "Jack Reacher", compared his character to the famous British spy "007" - James Bond, but this was not self-praise, but criticism to some extent. He told Entertainment Weekly: "It's funny, I feel like (Jack) Reacher is the American James Bond. I've never had so much fun playing a character. I love all those big, over-the-top action-drama movies and catch-up movies, and heist movies that are smart and one step ahead of the audience. That's great, but for me personally, I feel like Bond - and people are going to hate me for saying this - I love Bond, but I feel like it's a little demeaning to women and it's a little too predictable now." He added that he thought Bond was a bit dated: "To me, Reacher is like the American Bond, and I think it's cool right now to not be deliberately cool. He doesn't know how cool he is. I don't think we can push characters that don't know they're cool anymore." The actor has currently completed filming the third season of Jack Reacher, which is inspired by the seventh novel by author Lee Child, The Persuaders. Prior to this film, Ritchson will co-star with Henry "Super" Cavil in the new spy dark comedy "The Matrix", directed by Guy Ritche. |
