Jude Law confirms that there is still hope for Sherlock Holmes 3: It requires the right time, place and people

Even though it’s not “high art”, the third film of “Now You See Me” has recently wrapped, while there is still no news about another beloved film series. The third film of “Sherlock Holmes” starring Robert Downey Jr. has been confirmed to be still in the works, and recently actor Jude Law, who plays Dr. Watson, also confirmed that the project is still in the works, and the hope is even greater.

"This has been a project that's been in development for many years, probably close to 10 years," he told The Playlist. "There's a lot of will to make it happen. There's a lot of will from all of us to find the time and find the right team to do it right."

"Another great thing I got out of both movies is my friendship with Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, Susan. They're very important to me. Hopefully, we'll still do it. I think there's a new version of the script that I haven't read yet. And there are questions like, 'How much is it going to cost?' and 'Can we actually make it?'"

The first Sherlock Holmes movie was released in 2009, the sequel was released in 2011, and the third one has been in production since then. The first two movies were directed by Guy Ritchie, but he has left the project over the years and the new director is Dexter Fletcher. Interestingly, Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. are currently working for Disney - Jude Law starred in the "Star Wars: Core Squad" series, and Downey recently returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and confirmed that he will play the villain Doctor Doom in the new film.
