Chinese version of "Midnight Diner" announced, Tony Leung Ka Fai to direct and star

The Chinese version of "Midnight Diner", in which Tony Leung Ka Fai directs and stars for the first time, released a trailer and announced that it will be released on August 30.

In addition to the image of the uncle played by Tony Leung in the trailer, the film also brings together a super star lineup, including Liu Tao, Tony Yang, Wei Chen, Joyce Cheng, Zhang Yishang, Jin Shijia, Jiao Junyan, Kara Wai, Feng Cuifan, Zhang Li, Liang Jingkang, Du Yuchen, Wang Jingwen, as well as many other actors including Deng Chao, Eddie Peng, Zhang Yibai, Chen Jianzhou, Hao Ping, and Jiang Wenli.

Interestingly, during the promotion of the 2017 Japanese version of "Midnight Diner 2" in mainland China, director Matsuoka Joji talked frankly about his impression of Tony Leung, saying: "When I looked at his face, I thought he used to be a gangster who fought with a kitchen knife, but now he has been reborn into a good person." Tony Leung revealed that in order to play the role of an uncle well, he actually cut a scar on his eyebrow.
