Director Todd Phillips once again confirmed that this year's new Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix is rated R. In addition, the director also released a new photo on the set on Instagram, in which Phoenix is facing the mirror and preparing his clown makeup, like an art painting.

The movie's R rating is a response from director Todd to a fan's question, and the Motion Picture Association of America has not yet made an official statement. But looking at the explosive content in the trailer, it is definitely R-rated.

The stills show the makeup process of the lead actor Phoenix. The photographer was Niko Tavernise. Director Todd praised him as "one of the best static masters among real cinematographers. We are lucky to have him on the set."

The Joker movie will be released on October 4.
