Black Juliet was mocked by netizens and the production team issued a statement: against online violence

According to foreign media reports, Tom Holland will partner with black female actress Francesca Amewudah-Rivers to star in the stage version of "Romeo and Juliet", which will be screened in London from May to August.

As soon as the news came out, the actress's appearance and skin color caused many netizens to complain. They thought that this casting was too correct and too outrageous. Some people said: "Even if you want to find an African-American actor, at least find someone who is good-looking."

Jamie Lloyd, the troupe's chairman, issued a statement saying that a crew member received a large number of racist online comments. He said: "As our "Romeo and Juliet" cast was announced, a large number of angry racist online comments appeared against a member of our troupe. This must stop. We are working with a group of outstanding artists, and we insist that they have the freedom to create without facing online harassment. We will continue to support and protect everyone in the troupe at all costs, and any abuse will not be tolerated. Bullying and harassment have no place online or in our industry."
