Sony: Uncharted movie in 'early development'

Sony: Uncharted movie in 'early development'

At Sony's IR Day (Investor Relations Day) yesterday (May 21), Sony Pictures Entertainment President Tony Vinciquerra once again mentioned the "Uncharted" game adaptation movie that was very difficult to produce but has attracted the attention of countless people.

Tony Vinciquerra said at the meeting that the Uncharted movie project has not been cancelled and will be released in the future. The movie is still in the "early development" stage. And according to him, the production of the movie has been handed over to the newly established "PlayStation Production Studio".

Here I would like to briefly mention the "PlayStation Productions studio". According to Sony, this studio will focus on turning PlayStation-related games into movies and TV series and bringing them to the market in the future. In this process, Sony Studio will assist in distribution, but will not participate in the creation of content. Shawn Layden, chairman of SIE Global Studios, said that this will not only be an opportunity to expand the gaming experience, but also an important direction to guide Hollywood to learn how to make good game adaptations. No matter how much it will achieve in the future, this studio demonstrates Sony's ambition.

Back to the movie "Uncharted", according to official news, the story of this movie takes place before "Uncharted: Golden Abyss". It can be confirmed that "Dutch Brother" Tom Holland will play the young version of Nathan Drake. However, the operation of changing directors of this movie before has shocked the audience. The current director is Dan Trachtenberg, who has directed "10 Cloverfield Lane" and "Black Mirror" (as for whether there will be a change of director later, who knows).

Because Sony's "PlayStation Productions Studio" has just been established, I believe it will need to produce works quickly, and the "Uncharted" film project, which has been approved for a long time, may be a good choice. "Dutch Brother"'s new film "Spider-Man: Far From Home" has also been completed and will be released soon, and there seems to be no conflict in time. However, these are all speculations, and specific news has yet to be officially announced.
