'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson may take over as Batman

Update: Nicholas Hoult, the new "Blue Beast" of "X-Men", is also likely to become the new "Batman" like Robert Pattinson.

Ever since Ben Affleck announced that he would no longer play Batman, the successor to DC's Batman standalone film has been a mystery. Today, according to Variety, Twilight actor Robert Pattinson is in talks to take over as Batman and is expected to sign the contract.

Previously, there was news that "The Batman" will not start filming until 2020, and director Matt Reeves ("Dawn of the Planet of the Apes") is currently writing the script. In addition, if the contract is successful, 32-year-old Robert Pattinson will become the youngest "Batman" in history, which is also in line with Ben's previous wish for a younger "Batman" to take over.

It is reported that DC's "Batman" independent film will be released in North America on June 25, 2021.
