Marvel's first Asian American superhero film director confirmed that Bruce Lee was the prototype

In early December last year, foreign media Deadline announced that Marvel was developing its first Asian superhero movie, called Shang-Chi, with the script written by Chinese-American Dave Callaham, who wrote Wonder Woman 2 and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2. Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Marvel has already found a director for the Shang-Chi movie, Destin Daniel Cretton. Of course, everyone is more concerned about who will play the role.

Destin Cretton is well known for directing the independent film Short Term 12, which tells the story of a young woman who takes care of children in a foster care center. In addition to facing the dangerous events that may happen to the children, she also has to face her own inner demons. Cretton has collaborated with "Captain Marvel" Brie Larson many times. Larson starred in Short Term 12 and The Glass Castle. The latest new film that has not yet been released is Just Mercy, also starring Michael B. Jordan and Larson. I wonder if Captain Marvel recommended him this time.

"Shang-Chi" will be Marvel's first superhero movie starring an Asian actor. The main cast of the film is Asian Americans and Asians.

As a martial artist and superhero, Shang-Chi, also known as the "Kung Fu Master", first appeared in a special edition of Marvel Comics published in 1973. He is proficient in long sticks, nunchakus, swords and many other martial arts, and has also joined the Avengers. Created by writer Steve Englehart and artist Jim Starlin, Shang-Chi eventually gained the ability to create copies of himself. The original inspiration for the character of Shang-Chi came from the success of Bruce Lee's 1973 film "Enter the Dragon", which became popular in the United States that year.

Although many aspects of the character are dated by today's standards, Marvel is reportedly aiming to update the character and tailor it for modern audiences to avoid the stereotypes that were quite common during that era.

In the comics, Shang-Chi is the son of the villain Fu Manchu. He was born in Hunan, China, and lived in seclusion since childhood. He was trained in martial arts by his father and master, and his skills are superb. When he finally came to the outside world, he learned that his respected father was actually very evil, so he rose up to resist him.
