"Blue Prison", a manga adaptation produced by 8Bit, based on the original light novel by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, aired 24 episodes of animation on October 9, 2022. It was named Anime Corner 2022 (and 2023) Sports Animation of the Year, the 10th Anime Trending Best Sports Animation, and won the Japan Character Award 2023 Newcomer Award. Its spin-off theatrical animation "Blue Prison: Episode Nagi" has grossed over 1.2 billion yen since its release in Japan on April 19, 2024. Recently, in order to celebrate the decision to broadcast the second season, the official Twitter account posted a new surprise illustration, and also announced that the second season of "Blue Prison" will officially begin broadcasting in October 2024. In addition, no more production details were disclosed. The story of "Blue Lock" is set in 2018 when Japan lost in the round of 16 in the World Cup. In order to cultivate a "shooter" who can break the deadlock, the Japanese Football Federation decided to gather 300 talented high school forwards around 17 years old and put them in a closed football test field called "Blue Lock" for training and selection. Even if it means sacrificing the future of 299 people, the story of giving birth to a unique world-class striker is a must. |
