Classic movie "Gladiator" will be filmed and Ridley Scott is expected to direct it

According to foreign media reports recently, the Oscar-winning classic "Gladiator" is planning to shoot a sequel. The movie "Gladiator 2" (tentative title) will still be produced by Ridley Scott, and screenwriter Peter Craig ("The Hunger Games") has been invited to write the script. Ridley Scott currently hopes to be the director himself, but he will have to wait until the script is completed before discussing it.

"Gladiator 2" is a continuation of the first story. The protagonist Maximus of the previous part has died in battle. The second part will feature a new character, who may be Lucius, the nephew of Roman Emperor Commodus.

"Gladiator", starring Russell Crowe, was released in 2000 and achieved brilliant results that year. Not only did it take in $460 million at the global box office, it also won five awards including the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Actor the following year. It was one of the peaks of director Ridley Scott's film career.
