Netflix to release new series of "Chronicles of Narnia"

According to foreign media reports, the US streaming giant Netflix recently announced that it will create new series and movies based on the classic fantasy masterpiece series "The Chronicles of Narnia" written by classic British fantasy writer CS Lewis. The cooperation will last for many years.

The Narnia books have sold millions of copies around the world and were the basis for a series of hit movies released many years ago.

The deal gives Netflix's original series program a second shot, as it creates a wide variety of TV shows and movies, including those based on other book series, and has already won a leading position in the supply of Internet content.

The new film and series will follow "classic stories set in a fantasy world," however, no other details about the projects have been announced and it's unclear if any scripts have been adapted yet.

According to CS Lewis, this marks the first time ever that the adaptation rights to the entire set of seven Narnia books have been granted to a single company. On the one hand, Netflix also seems to have long-term plans for its original content, with the company's chief content office Ted Sarandos saying that CS Lewis' beloved Chronicles of Narnia have resonated with generations of readers around the world and that we are excited to be their home for years to come.

Here is Wikipedia's introduction to The Chronicles of Narnia:

The Chronicles of Narnia is a set of seven fantasy novels written by the late British writer C.S. Lewis in the 1950s. It is one of the classics of British and American literature.

The story begins with a little boy and a girl who accidentally enter a different world called Narnia, where they experience a series of adventures and see the creation of that world. Afterwards, he buried a seed (apple) brought from another world in the garden, and it grew into a big tree. The tree was later blown down by a hurricane and turned into a wardrobe, and then led four children into different periods of this magical country. Each book is related to each other, but can also be read independently.

The author uses different characters and animals in the story, and uses parables or metaphors to tell children the truth of the Bible. Compared with the serious Sunday school curriculum at the time, Lewis's story can be said to be a great breakthrough. In general, the entire "Chronicles of Narnia" series reveals a kind of piety to Jesus Christ, and it has become one of the greatest children's literature works in Britain since World War II.
