"Top Gun 2" starts filming today, the sequel finally comes to fruition after 33 years

Tom Cruise's famous work "Top Gun" is finally going to start filming a sequel after more than 30 years.

On May 16, 1986, Top Gun was released in the United States, which put Tom Cruise on the road to superstardom. On May 31, 2018, Top Gun 2 started filming. The sequel, which had been planned for many years, was finally officially launched. Even in Hollywood, this was a long wait.

Today, Tom Cruise announced on social media that Top Gun 2 has started filming, and his long-cherished wish is finally coming true. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who has worked together on Oblivion.

"Top Gun" is directed by Tony Scott. After the success of the film, the director and the leading actor hoped to start filming a sequel, but because the leading actor was tied up in film contracts and the sequel also needed better and newer ideas, it was shelved for a long time. Until 2010, Tony Scott announced that Tom Cruise would return to star in "Top Gun 2", and it seemed that the film was about to start shooting.

Unexpectedly, in 2012, director Tony Scott committed suicide due to cancer, which stalled the entire project. After that, Tom Cruise has been pushing the project. It was not until 2017 that the producer Paramount confirmed the North American release date of "Top Gun" on July 12, 2019 and confirmed the director, and the film made real progress.

A sequel movie that was released 33 years later may be older than many viewers. How will Tom Cruise, who is 56 years old this year, play an ace pilot? All this will have to be tested after the movie is released.
