No suits or villains! "X-Men: New Mutants" will be a horror movie

Rosario Dawson, who plays Night Guard in the Marvel superhero series The Defenders, is considering joining X-Men: New Mutants to play Dr. Celia Reyes, the mentor of young mutants. According to director Josh Boone, the film will not be about teenagers, but will be made into a horror film.

Doctor Celia Reyes will appear in "X-Men: The New Mutants" as a mentor to teenage mutants. Her superpower is to generate an invisible force field around her body.

The film's director, Josh Boone, previously directed The Fault in Our Stars, but if you think that choosing a director who is good at shooting youth films means that X-Men: New Mutants will also be about youth, you are wrong! Director Josh Boone recently revealed that X-Men: New Mutants will be a horror movie from beginning to end. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he talked about the tone of the film. He pointed out that this film will be different from the superhero movies that everyone has seen so far, and it will eliminate the stereotypes that superhero movies have become the norm.

"We're making a mature horror movie in the X-Men universe. There are no suits or super villains. We're trying to do something very, very different." This description may sound a bit like the recently successful "Logan".

The cast members of "X-Men: New Mutants" who have been confirmed so far include Anya Taylor-Joy, who has appeared in "The Witches" and "Split", who will play the mutant Magik, the sister of Colossus in "Deadpool". In addition, "Game of Thrones" actress Maisie Williams will play the mutant Wolfsbane.

"The New Mutants" is currently in pre-production and is scheduled to be released on April 13, 2018. Director Josh Boone will co-write this teenage mutant movie with Knate Lee.
