"Fengshen" has a hard time making back its 3 billion investment: box office exceeded 200 million in 3 days

The official Weibo account of the movie "Fengshen" announced that the total box office of "Fengshen Part 1" exceeded 100 million in 2 days after its release.

Industry insiders said that Wuershan, the director of "Fengshen", plans to shoot "Fengshen Trilogy" with an investment of 3 billion yuan, which means that each film costs about 1 billion yuan, so the box office of each film must exceed 3 billion yuan to make back the investment. The film costs must be multiplied by 3 times the box office to make back the investment. The industry predicts that the total box office of "Fengshen I" will be around 1.4 billion to 1.8 billion yuan, which is not enough to recover the cost.

This film took up a lot of energy from the team. Wuershan himself said that the "Investiture of the Gods" trilogy is not fantasy, but a mythological epic. In 2014, the project officially started script planning. Wuershan and his team conducted a lot of research and discussion, invited many experts and scholars to participate, and revised and polished more than ten drafts of the script in five years before finally determining the direction of adaptation and creation. It took two years to set up the team and prepare, and the shooting cycle was 18 months, with a total of 468 shooting days.

After watching the preview, some viewers said that "The First Part of the Investiture of the Gods" exceeded their expectations and represented the highest level of Chinese special effects commercial films from the perspective of special effects production.

Some viewers also said that the first part served as a prelude and fully told the background of the story. It made some changes to the original work, such as the reason why Bigan had his heart dug out. The background music was grand and majestic, and the director's intentions could be felt.
