The star of the new Hellboy once called Jianjian for help

In a recent interview, actor David Harbour, who plays Sheriff Jim Hopper, talked about the Stranger Things Season 4 finale and went into more detail about surviving Neil Marshall's 2019 Hellboy reboot. David Harbour stars in the reboot and told GQ how he survived the negative response from fans.

"I knew Ryan Reynolds a little bit," Harbour said. "I called him and said, 'Hey, man, I just want to know something. You know Green Lantern? That was a huge flop for you. What was that like? Because I feel like I'm having the same question right now. Am I going to be OK? Is my career going to survive?'"

Harbour called Reynolds' overall response "very thoughtful," but did not elaborate on the details. Looking back in 2019, Harbour said it was still "a very difficult experience because I wanted more from it. I really liked Mike Mignola (Hellboy creator) and I loved the character. When the reboot was first announced, I realized that people didn't want the character to be reinvented. I was naive and optimistic about what we were going to do."

It’s worth mentioning that in 2021, Reynolds sat down and watched his much-maligned superhero movie Green Lantern for the first time and was quite surprised by it. It turns out that the movie was not as bad as he thought.
