Nolan: Oppenheimer is a bit like a horror movie

Recently, Christopher Nolan told the audience who bought tickets for "Oppenheimer" through Wired magazine that the movie may destroy your emotions and it is even like a horror movie.

"Some people completely broke down after watching the movie," Nolan said. "They couldn't talk. There is a horror element to this, both historically and in human instinct. But the presentation of the characters and the love relationship between the characters is the strongest I have ever made."

Nolan added: "It's going to be an intense experience. It's an intense story. I showed it to a filmmaker recently and he said it was a horror movie, and I don't disagree with that."

"Oppenheimer's story is full of impossible situations," Nolan said, "impossible moral dilemmas, paradoxes. There are no easy answers in his story, only difficult questions, which is why the story is so fascinating. There are a lot of optimistic places to find in the film, but there is a bigger question hanging over it. I felt it was necessary to leave some questions at the end to echo in people's minds and spark discussion."

"Oppenheimer" tells the story of theoretical physicist Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy) who created the atomic bomb to end World War II. It is Nolan's second R-rated film after "Day and Night" and will be released in North America on July 21.
