Actor Jeremy Renner, who was seriously injured in a horrific snowplow accident on New Year's Day, said in an interview recently that he would have died if it weren't for the help of his nephew. Renner also said that he thought he would not survive and had left a "last message" for his family. ABC recently spoke with him about the accident. The full interview will be released later, but in a post on Twitter, Renner shared new details about the accident. He said: "If I was there alone, it would have been a horrible way to die and I certainly would not have survived. But I was not alone - my sweet nephew Alex (saved me). Other help came quickly as well." After using his snowplow to help a stranded family member in Tahoe, Renner was hit and crushed by a car, causing more than 30 fractures. In the 911 call recording released by ABC, the caller urgently stated that he was seriously injured at the time and asked the ambulance to arrive quickly. In the clip, Renner also said that he was in the hospital after the accident and was preparing to say his final goodbyes to his family: "I was writing down notes on my phone - leaving last words for my family." According to reporter Diane Sawyer, Renner had 14 fractures in eight ribs, right knee, right ankle, left leg, left ankle, right clavicle, right shoulder. He also had a broken jaw, and the most fatal thing was that a rib pierced a lung and caused it to collapse. Rainer recalled his thoughts at the time: "(I thought) What will become of my body? Will I argue that it's just my spine and brain, like a science experiment? In the end, I chose survival. It won't kill me, not at all. I lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I was put back together again, full of titanium (bone repair and reinforcement) and love from everyone." After the accident, Renner received a lot of support from fans and fellow actors who worked with him in Marvel movies. Renner's TV series "Mayor of Kingston" returned for its second season on January 15. |
