According to Deadline, the Royal Shakespeare Company's stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli's Hayao Miyazaki's 1988 animated film "My Neighbor Totoro" will be staged again at the Barbican Centre in London for a 17-week run in late 2023. The new show will run from November 21, 2023 to March 23, 2024. The "My Neighbor Totoro" stage play first premiered on October 8, 2022, and ran for a total of 15 weeks before ending on January 21, 2023. Priority bookings for the new season will begin on April 11, with public bookings opening on April 21. Casting will be announced soon. According to Deadline, the returning show will feature new dolls, with director Phelim McDermott saying the dolls will be beefed up this time around so they last longer without breaking. He described the dolls from the original show as prototypes. He also said he would love to bring the show to New York. The play won five different categories at the Drama WhatsOnStage awards in February, namely Best Scenic Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Sound Design, Best Direction and Best Music Direction/Supervision. |
