It's rare for a Hollywood movie to be completely devoid of visual effects. If it's a Marvel movie, then you can multiply the normal number of visual effects by 100 or more. Ant-Man 3 has a lot more CGI effects than real live action, and critics have noticed the poor visual effects of the film, resulting in the film becoming one of the lowest-rated MCU films to date. In an interview with foreign media Vulture, an anonymous visual effects industry veteran revealed more stories behind the scenes. A visual effects artist who has worked on multiple Marvel films said: "Black Panther 2 took priority. It felt like the senior and supervisory roles were transferred to Black Panther 2, and there was only a smaller team working on Ant-Man 3." Ant-Man, like many other films, sometimes required visual effects artists to create scenes from scratch. "Sometimes we're creating an entire movement of an actor - Ant-Man walking through something. And you wonder, why didn't they shoot it the right way or the way they originally wanted it? Why are we taking an actor's performance and turning it into a Frankenstein? A quick shot that might take two seconds has to be redone 20 times to get the look they want." Another VFX veteran said: "Ant-Man 3's story, as well as the overall visual effects, have great potential. I think the reason why the movie got the reviews it got is because Marvel is limiting the quality as much as possible. They are trying their best to squeeze blood from the stone, and we have no blood left." “We were working on some cool scenes and it looked promising. But there should have been more people on the project. And maybe more money. With many projects like this going on at the same time, resources become more scarce. Quality starts to drop. You can’t expect all VFX companies to deliver top-quality work, especially if you’re working on a low budget.” |
