The Last of Us live-action series will explore the story before the infection

Gabriel Luna, the actor who plays Joel's brother Tommy in the HBO series of The Last of Us, was interviewed by IGN and revealed that the series will explore the story before the Cordyceps fungus infection. This means that the live-action series of The Last of Us will expand on the brief prologue of the game.

Luna hinted that we might see more scenes of Joel and Tommy together in the TV series.

“We get to explore the moments before the precipitating incident, before everything goes wrong, before the whole world goes wrong. We get to see them become a family for a little while.

These moments, when everything is normal, are really interesting and important to the story that follows, highlighting what this family is like when they’re not fighting to stay alive.”

The live-action drama "The Last of Us" has a budget of $100 million and will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on January 15. Neil previously hinted that the second season will cover the events of the game "The Last of Us 2".
