The manga "Space Brothers" created by Japanese cartoonist Chuya Koyama began serialization in 2008. Recently, the official announced that the story of the manga has entered the final chapter and is about to come to an end. Koyama previously revealed in January that he planned to begin narrating the final chapter of the manga this year. He first said in 2017 that comics were heading for their "final sprint." "I don't know how many years (comics) will last," he said at the time, "but the final sprint is coming." “It may be quite a long final sprint, but I appreciate the support I’ve received from you all.” Space Brothers began serialization in Kodansha's Morning magazine in 2008. Kodansha published the 41st volume of the manga in May this year, and the 42nd volume will be released on December 22. In 2011, the manga won both the 56th Shogakukan Manga Award and the 35th Kodansha Manga Award in the general manga category. An anime adaptation of the manga aired between 2012 and 2014, and a film adaptation starring Shun Oguri and Masaki Okada was released in 2012. |
