Hugh Jackman: I'm not planning to play Wolverine again before Deadpool 3

In an interview with DEADLINE, Hugh Jackman commented on the recently announced new Deadpool 3 movie, saying that Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds pestered him to return, even though Jackman had decided not to play Wolverine anymore.

Jackman said he had "fully intended" 2017's Logan to be his last film as the character. But after watching the first Deadpool, Jackman said he had a "Uh oh, that's it" feeling because he felt the possibility of returning to the role and working with Reynolds.

Jackman drove to the beach during a break from his Broadway musical "Happy Hour" and realized he really wanted to play Wolverine again.

"As soon as I got to the beach, I called Ryan to see what was going on. And then it just happened, it happened so fast. Believe me, there wasn't a morning I woke up without Ryan Reynolds standing outside my house with a sign that said, 'Please,'" Jackman said. "He kept asking me about it. I was like, 'Man, I quit, I quit, I really quit, I really quit.' So when I said yes, he was surprised and said, 'Are you serious?' Yes."

Jackman insisted that he "meant it" when he said Logan was his final outing as the character, but at the same time, he admitted that "somewhere deep down inside, the idea of returning was always lurking and simmering."

"Deadpool 3" is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2024.
