The official website of Neon Genesis Evangelion announced today (November 2) that it will launch a stage adaptation tentatively titled Beyond Evangelion. The stage play will open at Tokyo's Kabukicho Tower on April 28, 2023. The play will be the premiere of the building's new Theatre Milano-za performing arts venue. Business conglomerate Tokyu and its subsidiary Tokyu Entertainment Co., Ltd. are producing the show, which is expected to run until May. The building is located on the site of the former largest cinema in Shinjuku, the Milan-za, which was a theater that screened the recompiled movie of Neon Genesis Evangelion: 3.0+1.0. In the movie of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, the audience shots in this theater were used as part of the climax scene of the movie. Belgian stage performer and director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui will be responsible for directing and choreographing the stage play. |
