Station B sued Station D for illegally broadcasting "Heavy God Pandora" and was awarded 1.5 million yuan in compensation

Recently, the China Judgment Documents Network published the first-instance civil judgment on copyright ownership and infringement disputes between Shanghai Huandian Information Technology Co., Ltd. (B Station for short) and Fuzhou Dili Technology Co., Ltd. (D Station for short). The trial court was the Shanghai Pudong New Area People's Court.

The plaintiff, Station B, claimed that the defendants, Dili, Jieban, and Tianxiawushuang, illegally provided online playback and download services for the work involved, "Heavy God Machine Pandora," on the Dili software and Station D they jointly operated without the plaintiff's authorization, and maliciously erased the plaintiff's signature.

Defendant Station D argued that it acknowledged the plaintiff's accusation that it provided online playback services for the works in question, but did not provide download services; the works in question originated from the Internet, and Dili Company did not proactively remove the plaintiff's signature.

After investigation, the court held that the three defendants' actions violated the plaintiff's right to information network dissemination and authorship of the work in question, "Heavy God Machine Pandora", and they should jointly bear the corresponding civil liability. The Shanghai Pudong New District People's Court ruled that the three defendants should jointly compensate the plaintiff for economic losses of 1.5 million yuan and reasonable expenses of more than 298,000 yuan.
