Douyin responds to being accused of copyright infringement of "Changjin Lake": The video is less than 6 minutes long and is in cooperation with the official

On the evening of February 9, Douyin officially released a clarification on Weibo regarding the false information that Douyin infringed the copyright of "Changjin Lake". Douyin said that a long video platform recently passed information through the media that there was a 30-minute clip of the movie "Changjin Lake" on Douyin, which infringed the copyright of its platform and triggered a lot of media reports.

After verification, the relevant content is actually part of the official promotional cooperation between Bona Film Group, the producer of "Changjin Lake", and Douyin. The total length of the relevant video is less than 6 minutes, and the material comes from the movie trailer and related historical materials. The report that there is a "30-minute cut" is obviously untrue.

In August 2021, Bona Film Group contacted Douyin staff, hoping to jointly promote the movie "Changjin Lake". With the authorization and confirmation of the film company, Douyin assisted in contacting several Douyin authors to produce promotional videos with the #Changjin Lake hashtag, and the one exposed in the news was one of them.

These videos helped "Changjin Lake" achieve good promotional effects, with a total of more than 210 million views within one month of its release. The film company was very impressed with the promotional effect and produced posters for dissemination.

Douyin has always respected the rights of copyright holders and has continuously cracked down on infringing content. Douyin also believes that the "secondary creation" content based on film and television is the innovation and contribution of users, and is also a true expression of users' emotions. "Secondary creation" is a new thing that should be encouraged and supported. Film producers, users, and creators all have needs. Users' creations should not be killed in the name of protecting copyright.
