According to foreign media reports, Paramount has removed the untitled "Star Trek 4" movie from its waiting list. The film was originally scheduled to be released on December 22, 2023. Previously, Matt Shakman announced that he would withdraw from the project due to a schedule conflict with the Marvel Universe version of "Fantastic Four". In February this year, Paramount announced that Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and other actors would return to star in "Star Trek 4". However, Matt Shakman stopped serving as director this summer, and the preparations for the film were significantly affected. The film was originally scheduled to start shooting at the end of this year. According to foreign media analysis, the project stalled because Paramount has not been able to settle contracts with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and others. The last "Star Trek" movie was "Star Trek Beyond" in 2016. The film cost $185 million and grossed $343 million worldwide, making it the lowest-grossing movie since the reboot. Earlier, there were two Star Trek movie projects in development: one by Quentin Tarantino and one by Noah Hawley, the creator of Fargo, both of which were shelved. Since 2018, the Star Trek IP has been confined to the field of American TV series. |
