One Piece's "Flim Red" has been the box office champion for 8 consecutive weeks, and its revenue in Japan has exceeded that of Ghibli's "Ponyo on the Cliff".

As of Monday, One Piece sold 11.26 million tickets for 15.7 billion yen, surpassing Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo on the Cliff to become the sixth highest-grossing animated film in Japan. It is also now the 11th highest-grossing film in Japanese history.

The film's revenue has also now surpassed the Japanese revenue of James Cameron's Avatar film.

The five animations that currently surpass Film Red on the list are:

The film sold 259,000 tickets last weekend, earning 358 million yen, and has topped the box office for the eighth consecutive weekend. On September 20, the film surpassed 15 billion yen in Japan's box office in its 46th day.

One Piece Film Red premiered in Japan on August 6. It ranked first in the Japanese box office in its first weekend, selling 2.58 million tickets in two days and earning 2.254 billion yen. In terms of ticket sales and box office revenue, Film Red has become the highest-grossing One Piece theatrical series, and has also surpassed Top Gun 2: Maverick to become the highest-grossing film in Japan so far this year.
