Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse cuts out the post-credits scene: The story is not over

In an interview with IndieWire, Phil Lord and Chris Miller of the animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" revealed that there was actually a post-credits easter egg at the end of the film, but it did not make it into the final cut.

According to the two, the clip will be a supplement to the previously unfinished clip in which the villain "The Spot" tries to get himself a drink at a bar where Spider-Man villains gather, but is unable to do so.

Lord described it to the interviewer: "And then he finally steals himself a drink, and he pours it down his stomach, but it all comes out of his hole. He's a dumb villain. Chris wrote a great line: 'Trying to fill a hole in his heart with more holes.' That's not a good way to go about it."

In the post-credits scene (spoiler alert!), the villain, who has gained the ultimate power to travel through different worlds, returns to the bar and takes out everyone who made fun of him.

“It’s one of my favorite moments, seeing this guy being made fun of and then coming back and, with just a whisper, obliterating every single person who tried to make fun of him,” says Alan Hawkins, character animation supervisor. “But you have to have both clips at the same time for them to work.”

"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" is currently being shown in theaters, and this is only the first half of Spider-Man Miles' new story. The suspense set at the end will be answered in the second half, which is scheduled to be released in March 2024.
