According to the latest report from Japanese media, Taishi Nishiya, a well-known character designer of Kyoto Animation, was confirmed to have died in the fire at the age of 37. He was the character designer of "Hyouka", "Free", "A Silent Voice", and "Liz and the Blue Bird", and the chief animation supervisor of "The Melancholy Series" and "Nichijou". Taishi Nishiya is one of the few male character designers in Kyoto Animation, and his characters are very colorful. His overall design style is flat, highlighting the slenderness of the characters, simplifying the light and shadow of the face, and compared with other "Kyoto faces", it looks more simple and is considered to be closer to the aesthetics of the general public.
