Tom Cruise's "Top Gun: Maverick" is still going strong after its digital release. According to Variety, the blockbuster became the No. 1 digital-only movie in the United States in its first week on the market. The data comes directly from Paramount Home Entertainment. The digital edition also includes 110 minutes of bonus content, including behind-the-scenes footage. There are also short featurettes documenting how the filmmakers captured the film's incredible flying footage. Paramount did not disclose sales for Top Gun: Maverick, but a studio representative told Variety that its sales estimates are based on “industry tracking sources, independent analysis and retailer feedback.” The film will be released physically on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on November 1. Released in June, The Lone Ranger is the highest-grossing film of 2022 worldwide with $1.37 billion. By July, Top Gun: Maverick had become the 12th film in history to earn $600 million in the United States. The film received positive reviews across the board. It is officially the highest-grossing film of 2022 so far for Tom Cruise and the filmmaker. As a producer, Tom Cruise said he tried to prevent "The Lone Ranger" from premiering on a streaming service. He said: "This movie is something I made specifically for the big screen." |
