American actress Anne Heche was pronounced dead early yesterday after suffering serious injuries in a car accident last week. Heche is on life support to keep his heart beating, and doctors are deciding which organs can be donated. "Today we lost a bright, kind and joyful soul, a loving mother and a devoted friend," Heche's family and friends said in a statement. "Anne will be deeply missed, but her life lives on through her son, her classic work, and her passion. Her ability to stand up for her truth and spread her love and tolerance will continue to have a lasting impact." Homer Ruffin, Heche's son, said: "My brother Atlas and I lost our mother. These six days have been an incredible roller coaster of emotions, culminating in a grief that is difficult to describe in words. I hope that our mother will be free from pain and begin to explore the eternal freedom I imagine. During these six days, countless friends, family and fans came to comfort us. I am very grateful for their love, and my father and stepmother also firmly supported us during this time. Rest in peace, mother." Anne Heche was 53 years old. She had starred in "Six Days, Seven Nights" and "Wag the Dog". On August 5, local time, Anne Heche accidentally drove into a private house in Los Angeles, and the car was engulfed in flames. |
