In a new interview, writer-director Damon Lindeolf (Watchmen TV series, Lost TV series) says that while he has watched every Marvel movie faithfully, he thinks there are too many of them. “From a slightly more mundane perspective, moviemaking is a business,” Lindeolf said on Vulture’s “Into It” podcast. “It’s an industry. If you make a couple of great Marvel movies, your instinct is, ‘We need to make more Marvel movies, we need to expand this franchise.’ There’s always a part of me that’s like, ‘Wow, I wish they made less money because it would make each product that comes out that much more special.’” Lindeolf added: "Most people don't want things to end. But I do." At present, the number of works produced by Marvel shows no signs of slowing down. This year, following "Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness" and "Thor: Love and Thunder", "Black Panther 2" will also be released in November. "She-Hulk" will also start airing on Disney+ on August 18 and will become the third Marvel series to air this year. At last month's Comic-Con, Marvel also announced plans for Phases 5 and 6, which would bring the MCU's currently known slate to the end of 2025. |
