National Treasure: Edge of History screenwriter wants Nicolas Cage to return

Although many people ridicule Nicolas Cage as the "king of bad movies", at least he has had a glorious time of success, as evidenced by the two "National Treasure" movies. In these two movies, Cage successfully portrayed the image of Ben Gates. Now, the TV series "National Treasure: Edge of History" is about to be released on the Disney+ channel.

Although the story continues, it does not include Nicolas Cage. Two key characters from the two movies will appear in the TV series set in the same universe, but Cage will not appear at this time. But it's not that the writers don't want Cage to return to this story.

Marian and Cormac Webberly, writers of the two films, who also wrote the Disney+ series, said this at the San Diego Comic-Con when asked if Cage could return.

Marian said: "We would very much like to ask him to come back and we would give him the chance in a minute. He is our favourite actor. He was the model for Ben Gates from the beginning. He was our first choice."

That means they're just as enthusiastic about Cage as ever. But since Cage isn't participating in this adventure now, National Treasure: Edge of History will have a whole new treasure hunting team.
