The story begins when Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington's characters suddenly become prime suspects in a 1930s murder case. They eventually go to Robert De Niro for help. Formerly known as Canterbury Glass , the trailer for Amsterdam first premiered at CinemaCon in April as part of 20th Century Studios’ new release showcase.

The film’s tagline, “A lot of stuff happened,” suggests the film is loosely based on a true story in which the trio uncovers “one of the most shocking secrets in American history.” Deadline reports that the film was inspired by the FBI’s “Abscam” undercover operation in the late 1970s and early 1980s that led to the convictions of seven U.S. congressmen.

Amsterdam is scheduled to be released on November 4, 2022.
