"Thor 4" director Taika Waititi praised Christian Bale's performance as Gorr the God Butcher in the film. "Bale is probably the best villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in my humble opinion," the 46-year-old director told The Associated Press. This upcoming sequel to Thor: Ragnarok follows the God of Thunder as he searches for inner peace. Unfortunately, his spiritual hiatus is short-lived as Gorr the God Butcher emerges seeking vengeance. "Thor is just trying to figure out his purpose, trying to figure out who he really is and why he's a hero, or if he should even be a hero. I guess you could call it a mid-life crisis. It’s a great, really fun, weird little group of heroes: Thor and Korg, Valkyrie, and the powerful female Thor.” Of course, his search for identity leads Thor on a journey of self-discovery, a journey in which he even acquires a rather startling new look at one point. To make matters worse, he runs into his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman), who seems to be doing much better than he is. |
