Oscar-winning actor William Hurt dies at 71

On March 13, local time in the United States, American actor William Hurt, who once won the Best Actor Award at the Oscars, died at the age of 71. He had recently starred in many Marvel superhero blockbusters. In May 2018, William Hurt was confirmed to have advanced prostate cancer.

William Hurt was born on March 20, 1950 in Washington, D.C. He studied at the famous Juilliard School, where he was classmates with Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve. In 1986, Hurt won the Academy Award for Best Actor for the film "Kiss of the Spider Woman" and was nominated for the same award twice in a row for "Children of God" in 1986 and "News on the Go" in 1987.

In 2005, Hurt starred in the thriller "A History of Violence" and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor the following year. In the movie "The Incredible Hulk" released in 2008, Hurt played General Ross. Since then, he has starred in many superhero movies, including "Captain America 3: Civil War", "Avengers 3: Infinity War" and "Avengers 4: Endgame", in which he played the same role.
