Following Henry Cavill, the actor who plays Vesemir is also leaving The Witcher

The fourth season of Netflix's The Witcher will feature a different actor as Geralt, however, it looks like Henry Cavill isn't the only demon hunter leaving The Witcher in the new season.

The Netflix fantasy series is based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski and tells the story of Geralt, a supernatural hunter known as "The Witcher." For three seasons, Henry Cavill, a self-proclaimed fan of The Witcher, played the role of Geralt, but in 2022, the actor announced that he would be leaving the show without giving a reason. Despite this, development of The Witcher Season 4 is continuing, with Liam Hemsworth taking over Cavill's role.

Sources indicate that Cavill isn't the only actor to leave The Witcher in season four. Reports indicate that Kim Bodnia will no longer be playing Vesemir on The Witcher, a role he played in season two. It is currently unconfirmed who will be replacing Bodnia as Vesemir. Bodnia was introduced in season two of the Netflix series as Vesemir, a mentor to Geralt and a father figure to the group of witchers. He did not appear in season three of the show as the plot shifted away from the witcher stronghold of Kaer Morhen. However, this report indicates that Vesemir will return in season four of The Witcher, but it will not be Bodnia who will be playing him.

It's unclear why Bodnia left the show, but given that his character didn't appear in season 3, it's possible that the actor took on other work during his time away from the show, which could now be causing a scheduling conflict. Additionally, Geralt's witcher brothers Lambert and Cohen will return in season 4, with Paul Brione and Zartes Artur reprising their roles. This suggests there could be a witcher reunion in The Witcher season 4, which would be a nice change after the group didn't appear together in season 3.

Netflix's The Witcher received mixed reviews during its run. Many praised Cavill's performance as Geralt, but others were disappointed with the show's departure from Sapkowski's novels. Bodnia's portrayal of Vesemir in season 2 was considered a highlight, but now a new actor will need to take over for season 4, marking another big shake-up for The Witcher in the upcoming season.
