Jon Snow from Game of Thrones questions Marvel: Why don't they hire gay men to play superheroes?

According to foreign media reports, the Marvel Cinematic Universe spans 10 years and more than 20 films, earning billions of dollars, but Kit Harington, the male lead of the American TV series "Game of Thrones", recently fired at Marvel Studios at the Toronto Film Festival: Why haven't they found closeted gay actors to play major roles?

In an interview with Variety, Harington said this situation must change. "In Marvel movies, we don't see an actor who is gay in real life playing a superhero on screen. I mean, when is it going to happen?"

Harington's words are not without reason. Looking at the leading stars of superhero movies, so far only Ian McKellen, the "Magneto" in the "X-Men" series, and Ezra Miller, the "Flash" in "Justice League", are openly gay.

The Marvel series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Jessica Jones have cast gay actors, but unfortunately they are nowhere to be seen on the big screen. Not only do Marvel movies lack gay actors as the main characters, but there are almost no gay characters in the scripts. Thor: Ragnarok even deleted the content that showed Valkyrie's bisexuality, and even with the efforts of director Taika Waititi, he was unable to save the scene in the end.

Even Miller, who openly came out as queer, was discouraged by many of his friends and colleagues. People in the industry always told him, "This is a wrong decision. There are so many homosexuals, queers, and gender fluid people in Hollywood who have decided to hide their sexual and gender orientations, and they do so for a reason. You will kill your chances of getting a leading role." Later, Miller received invitations to star in two blockbuster films, DC's "The Flash" and the "Harry Potter" spin-off film "Fantastic Beasts".
