Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe win Guinness World Record for returning to Spider-Man: No Homecoming

The Marvel movie Spider-Man: No Homecoming has not only broken the North American box office record, but has also won the Guinness World Record. The film uses actors from the early Spider-Man movies, including Tobey Maguire, the star of the first Spider-Man, and Willem Dafoe, who played the Green Goblin. The two actors reprised their roles in the previous Spider-Man movies in the movie, including the plot and role positioning, which are all based on the early series. Therefore, they won the Guinness World Record for "the longest career playing a Marvel live-action movie character."

Tobey and Dafoe first played Peter Parker and Norman Osborn in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, which was released in 2002. There was a gap of 19 years and 225 days between that film and Spider-Man: No Homecoming, breaking the previous record set by Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine in X-Men and Logan, 16 years and 232 days apart.

In the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Happy Hogan, played by Jon Favreau, the director of the first two Iron Man films, is currently the character with the longest tenure. He started playing Iron Man's driver Happy in the 2008 MCU pioneer Iron Man, and his most recent role was in Spider-Man: No Homecoming, which was released at the end of last year. Of course, this record will soon be broken by Samuel Jackson, who plays the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., in the Marvel series Secret Invasion, which will be broadcast in 2022. (The series is also counted in the MCU).
