Amazon's drama version of "The Lord of the Rings" has released a pilot trailer. The drama will premiere on Amazon streaming on September 2 this year. The project budget is as high as 465 million US dollars, which is known as the most expensive American drama in history. The first season has 8 episodes, starring Robert Aramayo, Ovin Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Joseph Mahler and others. It is directed by J.A. Bayona ("Jurassic World 2" and "The Impossible") and operated by John D. Payne & Patrick McKay ("Star Trek 3")

Amazon's The Lord of the Rings trailer:

Plot summary: "For the first time on film, this new Amazon series tells the story of the legendary Second Age of Middle-earth. Set thousands of years before the events of Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, this epic drama takes audiences back to a time when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose and fell, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung on a thread, and Tolkien's most powerful villain threatens to bring darkness to all worlds. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series focuses on a group of characters - both familiar and new - who face an age-old fear: evil has returned to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic forests of Lindon, the elven capital, to the breathtaking island nation of Númenor and to the furthest reaches of the map... these kingdoms and characters will carve out legends that will be told long after they are gone."
