John Stewart Confirmed as Cast for HBO's Green Lantern Series

According to Deadline, British actor Aaron Pierre, who stars in the Netflix series Against the Grave, has confirmed that he will be participating in HBO's upcoming DC Comics adaptation Green Lantern, playing one of the protagonists: Green Lantern John Stewart.

In addition to action scenes, he has also played the famous Malcolm X in National Geographic's "Genius (MLK/X)" series, and will voice Mufasa in the upcoming "The Lion King: The Legend of Mufasa".

It was previously reported that Kyle Chandler was in talks to play the series' other main character, Green Lantern John Stewart. The latest report is that the talks have not yet been finalized, but he is expected to sign on.

The series will revolve around two Green Lanterns investigating a series of horrific murders in the Midwest of the United States on Earth and unearthing the huge cosmic conspiracy behind them. Chris Mundy, the show's director, has participated in the production of "Criminal Minds", "True Detective" and the crime series "Ozark", so he is very familiar with this kind of crime suspense plot; Damon Lindelof, the screenwriter of the classic brain-burning series "Lost", and Tom King, the famous DC comics screenwriter, are both members of the show's creative team.

James Hawes, the director of the British spy thriller series "The Outcast" (6 episodes) and the science fiction series "Black Mirror" (2 episodes), will direct the first two episodes of "Green Lantern".
